Why Is My Freezer Building Up Too Much Ice?
Ice forms when warm, moist air gets into the freezer and freezes onto the cold surfaces. The most common cause is a door or lid seal that no longer closes tightly. On frost-free uprights, a failed defrost heater, timer or sensor lets ice build over the evaporator until the fan jams and the freezer warms.
