Why Is the Freezer Section of My Fridge Not Freezing?
In most fridge-freezers the freezer has the evaporator, so it is the first compartment to suffer when frost builds up, the evaporator fan stops, the door seal leaks or the compressor struggles. Our fridge repairs technicians compare both compartments to find which part has failed.

Clear only the surface frost the manual tells you to, with a plastic scraper. Ice packed behind the back panel is a sign of a defrost fault and is best left for the technician.

Why is the food in my fridge-freezer going soft?
The freezer is losing temperature, most often because frost has built up over the evaporator or the evaporator fan has stopped. A worn seal, a faulty thermostat or a refrigerant leak are the next things we check.
Why is my fridge cold but the freezer not freezing?
The freezer needs a much lower temperature than the fridge, so it is the first to show a weak compressor, a slow refrigerant leak or a frosted evaporator. The fridge side often follows a few days later.
Will regassing fix my freezer compartment?
Only if the test shows a leak. When it does, we repair the leak and regas, with fridge regassing from US$30, after diagnosis. A frosted evaporator or failed fan is repaired without gas.
How much does it cost to fix a fridge-freezer that is not freezing?
