Why Is My Washing Machine Overfilling?
If water keeps coming in with the machine switched off, the inlet valve is stuck open and needs replacing. If it only overfills while running, the pressure switch or level sensor is not telling the board the drum is full, often because its small air hose is blocked or split. A drain hose hung too low can also siphon water out as fast as it fills, so the machine never stops filling.

Safety If Water Keeps Entering
Close the washing machine tap straight away and switch off at the wall. Mop up any water near the socket. A valve stuck open will keep filling until the tap is closed.
Check that the drain hose rises at least 60 cm above the floor before it enters the standpipe.
If water reaches the plug or socket, unplug the machine from a dry position.
